Warren blasts 'funtime' Gavin after fighter goes AWOL before title clash

Frank Warren was left seething after Frankie Gavin went AWOL during his training camp and pulled out of his WBO Inter-Continental welterweight clash with Frank Haroche Horta.
Promoter Warren could now drop England's first-ever world amateur champion from his stable of fighters after being forced to draft in unbeaten Irishman Dean Byrne for tonight's bout in Manchester.
Warren revealed that 'Funtime' Gavin had walked out on east London father and son trainer-duo Jimmy and Mark Tibbs without any explanation, heading to the home of his former trainer Anthony Farnell.

Angered by the 26-year-old's withdrawal, Warren blasted: 'It’s total madness.
'Between him and Kevin Mitchell... I said to Jimmy Tibbs, what do you put in the water down there.'
'He’s just gone,' Warren added to boxingnewsonline.net. 'I heard he went to Anthony Farnell’s house.'

Warren admits he stopped short of tracking the Birmingham-fighter down, opting not to take a risk with his state of mind.
'I wouldn’t even talk him into fighting because if I did and something happened it would be my fault,' he said.
'It’s things like this where boxing really doesn’t help itself.'
Byrne, however, is relishing his big opportunity against 31-year-old French fighter Horta at the Bowlers Exhibition Centre.
He said: 'This is a fantastic opportunity that has been put my way to top the show and I’m looking forward to putting on a good performance for the fans,' he said.
'I’m based in the UK now and I want to build my fan base here as I progress towards the world title.
'Horta looks tough, he’s got a good record and he’s never been stopped in 39 fights so I’m looking to do a good job on him.
'He’s fit and ready to fight as he had Gavin lined up and I’m in top shape as I only boxed last week so it will be a good tough fight while it lasts.
